PARTICIPANT GUIDE

Welcome to Hitmaker Song Lab.

This guide explains how mentorship works, what participants can expect, and the responsibilities, expectations, and policies that apply throughout your mentorship experience.

Please read this guide carefully before registering for mentorship services.

For participants under age 18, a parent or legal guardian should review this document and related policies before enrollment.

1. GETTING STARTED

Hitmaker Song Lab welcomes songwriters, musicians, and developing artists of all ages and experience levels.

Whether you're writing your first song or continuing to develop your craft, our personalized mentorship is designed to meet you where you are creatively.

Participants under the age of 18 must register with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

Once registration has been completed and payment has been received in accordance with the Finance Policy & Payment Agreement, mentorship sessions may be scheduled subject to mentor availability.

2. MENTORSHIP SERVICES

Hitmaker Song Lab offers personalized one-on-one online mentorship designed to support artistic growth through professional guidance and creative development.

Services currently include:

Songwriting Mentorship
Vocal Coaching
Piano Lessons
Professional Song Feedback

Sessions are delivered privately via Zoom unless otherwise arranged.

Depending on the mentorship service selected, participants may receive personalized feedback, creative exercises, songwriting guidance, vocal instruction, piano tuition, or professionally developed backing tracks where applicable.

Important

Hitmaker Song Lab is an educational mentorship studio.

Participation does not provide:

artist management
entertainment representation
recording contracts
publishing opportunities
label introductions
guaranteed songwriting placements
commercial success or career outcomes

3. ATTENDANCE & PARTICIPATION EXPECTATIONS

Because every mentorship session is reserved exclusively for each participant, attendance, professionalism, and consistency are essential.

Participants are expected to:

Attend sessions on time.
Participate respectfully and professionally.
Engage actively throughout each mentorship session.
Complete any agreed creative work between sessions where applicable.
Communicate scheduling changes as early as possible.

Rescheduling policy

Sessions may be rescheduled only:

with at least 48 hours’ notice;
subject to mentor availability.

Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice may be forfeited in accordance with the Finance Policy & Payment Agreement.

Refunds or credits are not provided for missed sessions.

4. TIME ZONES & SESSION RESPONSIBILITY

All sessions operate on Pacific Standard Time (PST).

Participants are responsible for:

confirming their local session time accurately;
accounting for daylight savings or international time differences;
attending sessions punctually.

Missed sessions due to scheduling confusion or time zone errors may be treated as missed sessions.

5. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

Participants are responsible for ensuring they have suitable equipment for their selected mentorship service.

For most online sessions, participants will require:

A laptop or desktop computer
A reliable internet connection
A working camera and microphone
Zoom installed
A smartphone or recording device for capturing creative ideas where appropriate

Additional equipment may be recommended depending on the service selected.

For example:

Piano Lessons: Access to a piano or keyboard.
Vocal Coaching: Headphones or an external microphone are recommended where practical.

Participants are responsible for testing their equipment before each session.

Technical difficulties on the participant's side do not automatically qualify for refunds, credits, or replacement sessions.

6. PARTICIPANT RESPONSIBILITY

Participants agree to:

participate respectfully and professionally;
complete creative work and assignments where applicable;
maintain accurate contact information;
engage constructively in mentorship;
respect mentor time, scheduling, and program expectations.

For participants under age 18, parents/legal guardians may be required to assist with communication, scheduling, consent, and participation support.

Hitmaker Song Lab is not responsible for participant activity or conduct outside scheduled mentorship sessions.

7. PARTICIPANT CONDUCT

Participants are expected to maintain respectful, professional conduct at all times.

Prohibited actions include:

harassment or discriminatory behavior;
abusive, disruptive, or inappropriate communication;
recording sessions without written permission;
sharing session links or confidential materials;
impersonation, dishonesty, or misuse of mentorship resources.

Hitmaker Song Lab reserves the right to suspend or terminate participation without refund for serious misconduct, repeated policy violations, safety concerns, or inappropriate behavior.

8. CREATIVE WORK

Participants retain ownership of all original creative work they create, including lyrics, melodies, compositions, arrangements, and other original musical material.

Creative work submitted during mentorship may be reviewed solely for the purpose of:

Creative feedback
Mentorship
Educational guidance

Where included within the selected mentorship service, participants may receive professionally developed backing tracks or other supporting creative resources.

Participant work will never be published or shared publicly without prior written consent.

9. PROPRIETARY MATERIALS & INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

All educational materials, creative frameworks, The Hitmaker Method, teaching systems, lesson content, production methods, templates, worksheets, and mentorship resources remain the exclusive intellectual property of Hitmaker Song Lab.

Participants may not:

Copy or reproduce educational materials.
Share or distribute mentorship resources.
Record mentorship sessions without written permission.
Publish proprietary materials online.
Use Hitmaker Song Lab materials to create or teach competing educational services.
Commercially exploit any proprietary content.

Unauthorized use may result in termination of mentorship services and legal action where appropriate.

Ownership of participant-created songs does not transfer ownership of Hitmaker Song Lab's educational materials or proprietary creative frameworks.

10. MENTORSHIP LIMITATIONS

Hitmaker Song Lab provides creative mentorship and education.

Participation does not guarantee:

Recording contracts
Publishing opportunities
Artist management
Entertainment industry access
Commercial songwriting placements
Professional representation
Career advancement or commercial success

Our goal is to support artistic growth through mentorship, creative development, and practical music education.

11. TERMINATION OF MENTORSHIP

Hitmaker Song Lab reserves the right to suspend or terminate mentorship services in cases of:

non-payment;
serious misconduct;
repeated policy violations;
harassment or safety concerns;
failure to comply with program expectations.

Termination does not remove financial obligations under the Finance Policy & Payment Agreement.

12. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hitmaker Song Lab shall not be liable for:

indirect or incidental damages;
technical interruptions;
missed opportunities;
dissatisfaction with creative outcomes;
professional, artistic, or commercial results.

Participation is voluntary and undertaken at the participant’s own discretion (or, for minors, with parent/legal guardian consent).

13. ACKNOWLEDGMENT

By submitting an audition, enrolling, or participating in Hitmaker Song Lab, you confirm that you:

have read and understood this guide;
agree to comply with applicable policies;
understand the Finance Policy & Payment Agreement;
understand mentorship participation expectations;
acknowledge that outcomes are not guaranteed.

For participants under age 18, a parent or legal guardian confirms agreement on the participant’s behalf.
